I've been in semi-hibernation the past several days...summer colds are no fun at all. I'm feeling better now and hope to get some things finished up soon. I started working on a new tutorial for the blog before the plague hit my home and can't wait to share it. The idea started with a top my kiddo has in her closet. I love the way it fits her and it's really comfy to wear. I thought that it would work really well as a dress especially in the midst of an uncomfortably hot summer. So, using the existing top as a guide, I made a pattern for the bodice and then made a few dresses with different style skirts using knit fabrics {woven will work too}. The dress pictured below is simply two gathered tiers + the bodice which makes for a fun, swingy dress. I made another dress using a women's t-shirt I picked up on clearance. Since it wasn't enough fabric to create two gathered tiers, it became a dress with one long tier and side seam pockets. I'll share all the details in the tutorial post once I have everything finished up. In the meantime, here's a little sneak peak...
So cute!!!! Love all of the tiers. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sneak peek . . . makes me eager to see how to do it! Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! And I really love the way you did the paint graphics as if she was finger painting on glass. very clever.
ReplyDeleteCUTE!! Can't wait to check out the tutorial. Sorry you've been sick. :/
ReplyDeleteOh Vanessa, I love it. So cute. Especially since Roxy lives in dresses. The swingier the better.
ReplyDeleteWish I were a better sewer, and pattern follower.
She has a top that is red, white, and blue (4th of July purchase) that looks similar to this...hmmmmmm
Glad the plague is gone.
