I decided to put off a few things this week so I could participate in Elsie Marley's
Kid's Clothes Week Challenge. Make sure to stop by the
Flickr pool because there is some serious creativity going on over there! I started the week not really knowing what I wanted to make. I bought the
Flashback Skinny Tee pattern but didn't have fabric I liked for it. I then spotted this
dress via Pinterest and decided to make my own version. Obviously I didn't quite pull it off but I have a pretty good idea of what changes to make for my next version. I'll definitely make it less full so it doesn't read "night gown" and I'll use a wider binding. Maybe I'll call this one a swim suit cover up. Oh, and let me just say that it's been absolutely depressing trying to find cool knit fabrics locally. I'd be smart to plan ahead next time! Anyways, I hope to make a few more things before the week is over...
fabric: yellow gingham knit from hancock's - this fabric is super soft!
pattern notes: used the warhol dress pattern as a starting point but made a lot of changes to it. cut fabric on the bias. cut 2 inch wide strips for the binding. gathered front and back of dress. one regular strap and one tie strap. used a twin needle for the first time...very cool!
