grrr. . . .daylight savings time

I spent most of the past week working on a custom order {lots and lots of curtains} and struggling to adjust to the time change. It is now 4:58 pm, completely dark out, and I'm kinda sorta ready for bed. Anyways, I don't have any photos of the curtains to post, but I did work on a few little side projects that I'll share. Trying to put a dent in that mile long to-do list!

Project #1: Do something, anything with my not very inspirational bulletin board

The game plan involved some left over spray paint, some new push pins {I ordered the fabric covered buttons and glued them to thumb tacks}, teeny tiny clothes pins, and getting rid of some of the clutter. Ah, much better!

Project #2:  Doily Stenciling

I saw this tutorial over at Under the Sycamore and had to try it out. First, let me say that that Ashley Ann's blog is amazing. If you're like me and still trying to learn the ins and outs of dslr photography, you'll find many of her posts helpful. I did a quick and simple version of the tutorial, just to see how it would turn out. I used some doilies I had on hand, Elmer's Craft Bond Spray Adhesive, unbleached cotton, Tulip Soft Fabric paint, and a paint brush. The doily on the left was really small so I used a needle to poke through some of the holes that weren't fully opened before sticking it to my fabric. I made sure to really get the paint into the holes and it turned out quite well. I'm thinking I may make some zipper pouches with the stenciled designs on them. Eventually!

Project #3:  Keychain Clutch

Michelle of Keyka Lou added a new pattern to her shop this week and I couldn't resist the cuteness. Pretty quick to make and a perfect size for hand sanitizer, chap stick, etc. I think maybe the fabric I used is a bit bold for such a small clutch but I'm in love with it and want to use it for everything ;)

I also want to mention the lovely package Sydney got in the mail this week from Amy of Lots of Pink Here. I spotted her cute hair clips in this post and had to ask her about them. The clips are not currently listed in her shop but head over to her blog and send her an email if you're interested in a custom order. The clips and button hair ties are adorable and Sydney~approved!

  1. Wow, you've been busy! I'm loving all your new stuff - the inspiration board, the keychain clutch and all that good stuff! I've done the doily stenciling before but mine didn't come out nearly as nice as yours (which is why I didn't share :-) ) Love those new hairclips for Syd! I might need to order some from Amy!

P.S. - I got a sticker maker last week because I'm CRAZY about your stickers. Haven't tried it yet because I'm waiting to buy a paper punch with a 50% off coupon. Can't wait to make some stickers! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I hear you about the daylight savings thing. That coupled with a little one with an ear infection ruined any ambition I had for the past week. Here is hoping that we both find our groove soon.
I love, love, love how your inspiration board turned out. The blue, the min clothes pins, and the covered push pins. LOVE. If that doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will!!

  7. I love day light saving time. Nothing beats knocking off work and still having some day time left to get out into the garden. The only downside is that I get carried away in the garden and before I know it the sun is going down which means its about 9pm and I haven't put any tea on! "Pizza!"

Nice projects! I especially like that doily stenciling. I must look into that more!
