While searching through Etsy for some new sewing patterns, I came across Noodles and Milk. So glad I did because not only did I end up with a really cute skirt made from a pattern I just had to buy, but I also got to know Sabrina, the creative mind behind Noodles and Milk! After a bit of chatting, we decided to introduce each other (and our respective shops, blogs, etc) to our readers AND throw in some giveaways for good measure.
A bit about Sabrina:
I am a 30 year-old (yikes!) stay-at-home mom of *almost* two. My daughter is 2 1/2 and our son should be born in the next 8 weeks or so! Prior to staying home, I had the greatest job on earth. I was a buyer for a major jewelry retailer. Yes, I got paid to play with jewelry and travel the world- oh and it was just icing on the cake that I had a super boss, the best coworkers and a non-existent commute to work. I had no plans of anything changing. When my daughter was 3 weeks old, I looked at my husband with tears and told him that I could not leave her with strangers and that I had to quit my job. We promptly sold our house and downsized and the rest
"is history".
About Noodles and Milk:
After about 4 months of staying home with my daughter, I started to get antsy. I had no creative outlet. I had nothing that was "mine". I desperately needed something. So, I decided to take up a new hobby- something that I have always wanted to try- sewing. That is right, if you do the math, I have only been sewing about 2 years! To say that I took right to it would be an understatement. Within a few weeks I had an enormous fabric stash and could not stop creating and trying new things. Within about a month I started selling custom baby gifts on ebay (yuck) and then etsy (yea). The shop grew really quickly and I loved all the custom work I was creating for little ones. Custom gifts grew into custom clothing. In January, when I found out I was pregnant with our son, I knew that the shop had to change. I knew that at least in the beginning, I would not have the hours at naptime and nightime to sew custom orders. I decided right then to try pattern writing. I have found pattern writing to be as addicting as sewing. I love it! I can't say the shop will always be patterns and that I will never go back to custom orders, but for now I am loving the new direction and it is freeing up *a little* time for the new baby on the way.
I made a skirt using Noodles And Milk's Annabeth Girly Skirt pattern and am really pleased with the result!
What I love about the pattern:
*easy to follow with lots of photos
*helpful tips for beginners
*waist measurements are given in case you don't have a kiddo handy to measure
*Noodles and Milk allows you to sell items you make using the patterns on a small scale. Perfect for Etsy and craft show sellers!
