Let me just say that writing up a sewing tutorial is quite the process! I've been at it since last night. This is my first time so maybe it gets easier. It's not formatted exactly as I would like but decided to leave it as is for the time being. Please let me know if something doesn't make sense or if you have suggestions as to how I can improve the tutorial. I would like to do more in the future so it is definitely a learning process for me.
I chose to make a tutorial for my Patchwork Pencil Pouch. It's a basic zipper pouch with some patchwork detailing on the front. Making this pouch is a great way to use up some of those awesome little scraps you have laying around. I aimed to make the tutorial user friendly for beginners as well as more experienced sewers. If you've made a zip pouch before, just can just use the measurements in my tutorial and go for it!
To sweeten the deal, I'm going to do a giveaway as well! The pouch I created in making this tutorial is up for grabs to anyone in the US or Canada. I will draw a name and announce the winner April 1st! Feel free to enter until 12 am eastern time on Wednesday, March 31st.
All you have to do is take a quick peek at my shop and tell me what your favorite item is in a comment below. Or, if you have suggestions as to something new I should add, let me know! Whenever I get around to listing everything I have leftover from the show I did, I want to get the shop stocked up with lots of new stuff. I'd love to hear feedback to help me come up with some ideas. (Include your email address in your comment if it's not linked in your profile so I can contact you if you are the lucky winner!)
To recap:
The tutorial is here! I just created a Flickr Group for this tutorial. If you make a pouch, I'd love to see photos of your creation!
The giveaway is closed! I will be back shortly to announce a winner. Thanks so much to everyone that stopped by to leave such great comments!!!!!!!! You guys are awesome.
And the winner is. . . . MamaKnits2Much

ReplyDeleteI am just getting into sewing so I love seeing tutorials and DIYs! I will need to make some of these following your directions one of these days!! I'm sure it won't look nearly as nice though, I haven't dabbled with zippers yet, but hope to soon! My fav item is the Mini List Taker and Key Fob Set - Nicey Jane!
ReplyDeleteI think these are sooo cute...I will definitely be making a few of them for my daughter's crayons and pencils. I really love the slouchy bag as well as the zippy wallet with swivel clip.

thank you for the wonderful tutorial! You do marvelous work, so clean lined and stylish! I really like all of your pieces but if I had to pick one I'd say the Mini List Taker and Key Fob Set - Social Climber. I never have paper to scribble on when I need it and the fabric for this was just so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou know I love everything you make! However, when you posted the Slouchy Bag Mod Brown and Blue I decided it is right now my favorite! As always I love your work and ALL of your products! Kim
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the tutorial! I am definitely going to make one of these cuties using an old pair of cut-up jeans and leftover quilting fabric.
ReplyDeleteAnd your crayone case is my favorite.
your works are so great and cute! So sad, i'm from Europe.. :/

ReplyDeletethanks for the tutorial! love the mini list taker from the shop.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial! I'd love to win one one of your cases :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the zippy pocket wallets - there is a red/maroon one I am particularly enamored of. Or maybe the aqua with green stripe trim one...Thank you for the tutorial - I am slightly afraid of zippers - hoping I can follow these instructions and do one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial. My favorite thing in your Etsy store is the zippy wallet. Can't wait to make the zippered pencil pouch.
ReplyDeleteHi, I really like your pocket clutch - the detail of the tab coming from the bottom is quite different and charming. Since you asked for suggestions, I would offer the option of adding a wrist strap. I must day, what I liked the most about your shop were the modifications to the Buttercup bag pattern - a personal favorite of mine too. I've made it a couple of times and added a ziper just like you did. I really liked your shoulder bag version. Thanks for the zipper pouch tutorial, the patchwork detailing really makes them unique (plus who doesn't have a bag full of scraps? Hopefully many, otherwise...)
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSo many great items but right now I'm loving the Olivia Owl Softie! You have such a good eye for cute things!
ReplyDeleteI love your cute bags!
